Presenting: Variant Management and Rule Validation of BOM, Positioning and PLM - 9 Mar 2016, 09:55
MAN Truck and Bus AG needed a variant management strategy in the marketplace, faced with the inherent complexity of catering for a wide variety of customer needs. Configured products were designed to be assembled to order and helped MAN gain greater visibility over their products in turn better responding to customer demand.
However, the configured product process required a complex system of product model authoring, rules and requirements to effectively generate a new BOM, configuration of the order and/or creation of a visual representation there and then.
This presentation focuses on the general validation strategy and its mechanisms as part of MAN's variant management strategy within the BOM and PLM environment. Based on an overall framework, the actual tools and experiences from their application will be presented and discussed by the architects leading the project.
