I currently work as head of ‘CAD/PDM and Process Development’ at Volvo Cars R&D. During my 21 years in Volvo Cars & Volvo IT I have had various roles regarding PLM and external communication. Among other things I was R&D project leader in Ford Integration as well as project leader for the separation project from Ford Motor Company. For 10 years I was head of PDM Development on the business side. Having a deep interest in PLM I consider the next generation of PLM experts as an important topic and in recent years I have been working with different ways of secure next generation of PLM experts in the Gothenburg area by co-operations with high schools and networks.

Volvo Cars is a company on the move. A new sales record in 2015 is the first step towards hitting the target of 800,000 sold vehicles per year. In order to reach this target efficient co-operations with other companies is a must. One of the cornerstones in cross company co-operations is the handling of PLM data.

Volvo Cars has a history of co-operations and a lot of knowledge is built into the company. When moving forward into new challenges the previous experience is forming the basis.

This session will cover:

  • Brief summary of Volvo Cars present situation and challenges
  • A historic overview of previous cooperation, e g with Ford and Jaguar Land Rover
  • Requirement on solutions for product data
  • Principal approach regarding sharing and mapping of product data
  • Solution based on Share-a-space
